The village of Nikolaevka, municipality Suvorovo о is situated 30 km to the northwest of the city of Varna at 350 m altitude above the sea level on both sides of the river Nikolaenka. It was created in 1823 and its first name was Hadarcha. Here the patriotic rural wealthy man Atanas Georgiev opened the first Bulgarian school in Varna district in 1847 on his own expenses. The village was renamed in 1877 in honour of Knyaz Nikolay Nikolaevich – chief commander of the Russian troops, younger brother of Tsar Alexander II. The celebration of the village is on 2nd May, the day of St. Atanas, and the village fair is on 26th October, the day of St Dimitar.

Nowadays the village Nikolaevka is popular mainly amongst the fishermen with its beautiful dams and clean nature, as well as amongst the followers of Petar Danov_в. The dams are part of the cascade of dams in the villages Levski, Nikolaevka and Voditsa. The dam Nikolaevka occupies an area of 346 decares and it is one of the biggest in the area. The dam is planted with fish as carp, sheatfish, pikeperch and rudd. Crayfish is attraction for the dam in the village.
The careful mastering of the water facilities during the last years, the beautiful nature and the proximity with the city of Varna made the village Nikolaevka a preferable place for recreation of keen anglers. With implementation of the Programme Phare project, the road to the dam and the tourist hostel in village Nikolaevka was re-asphalted and electrified. The dam gained recognition as a place for fishing competitions and foundation for instructors. The record catch in the awters of the dam Nikolaevka was a 16 kg carp, caught in the summer of 2006, and the heviest pike perch, caught in the waters of the dam, has been 10,2 кг. The waters and the coast are cleaned regularly, and the traditional places, where fishermen gather together, are transformed into spots for recreation and camping, without using materials synthetic origin.
The village is visited by many tourists and followers of Petar Danov_в, who pass along his steps. A little above the terrain, where his native home has been situated, there is restoration in progress at the moment with voluntary labour and donations of the museum Petar Danov – Konstantin Danovski, who has been the first teacher and priest in the village. The school, where he had been teaching, is preserved till now. It is the first “cell school” in Varna district. It has been created in 1847, together with the church “St. Atanasiy”, which is active today, as well.
